Meet Michelle

A mum, a teacher, and a fighter — hear why she's standing for Farrer.

Hi, I'm Michelle

I’m a teacher, a mother, and a country girl through and through.

Born and raised in Cootamundra and now raising my own family in Jindera, I know what it means to live and work in regional Australia.

I also know that when the system ignores us, we have to fight back. I’ve done it before: I established and led the Justice Shouldn’t Hurt campaign, taking on the NSW Government and winning $64 million to ensure regional child sexual abuse victims receive the same court support as kids in Sydney.

Right now, Farrer is being ignored. Our farmers are under pressure, our services are overstretched, and our voices aren't being heard in the halls of power.

I’ve proven I can take on the big systems and win — and I’m ready to do it again for you.

My Plan to Revive Farrer

I don't answer to party bosses — I answer only to the people of Farrer.

Right now, people in Farrer are travelling hours for basic care, waiting too long to see a GP, and missing out on essential services.

I will fight to deliver a new hospital on a new site in Albury, a fully staffed Griffith Hospital, and a fully funded Deniliquin Hospital. I’ll push for more GPs in regional communities, better access to allied health, aged care and mental health services, and the national plan required to build the regional health workforce Farrer needs.

Water is the lifeblood of our communities, and it should not be treated as a speculative asset.

I will push to ban foreign ownership of Australian water entitlements so that our water supports local farmers, local jobs, and regional economies first.

Water buybacks take water out of productive communities and shift wealth out of the regions.

I will fight to stop further buybacks and instead invest in practical solutions that support farmers, strengthen irrigation systems, and build long-term drought resilience.

Communities across Farrer are missing out because funding models are based on population, not the real cost of delivering services across large distances.

I will push for fairer federal funding for councils and essential services, based on need and the true cost of service delivery. That means giving local communities the resources they need to maintain roads, invest in infrastructure, and deliver the services people rely on every day.

The housing crisis is threatening the sustainability of regional communities across Australia. Without affordable housing, businesses can’t get the workers they need, young people can’t get ahead, and vulnerable people are pushed into homelessness.

I will push for practical solutions that increase housing supply and improve affordability, including fast-tracking approvals, supporting local councils with infrastructure funding, expanding affordable and key worker housing, and encouraging investment through partnerships between government and the private sector. Strong communities depend on people being able to live where they work, and I will fight to make that possible.

People in our community rely on their cars and machinery every day. Whether it’s getting to work, running a farm, or keeping a small business going, fuel is not optional and high prices hit regional communities hardest.

I support practical cost of living measures that reduce pressure on fuel, including temporary fuel excise relief, strong fuel tax credits for farmers, and tougher action on price gouging to ensure regional Australians are getting a fair deal at the bowser.

I will also fight to make sure regional communities are prioritised when fuel supply is tight, so we are not left behind when shortages occur. People in the regions should not be paying more or missing out simply because of where they live.
